ADHD Naturally: A Step-by-Step Guide to Supporting the ADHD Brain
An evidence-informed online course for parents who want practical, natural ways to support their child with ADHD
If your child has ADHD, you may have wondered whether there is more you can do to support their focus, emotional regulation, behaviour, sleep, energy and overall wellbeing.
Perhaps you've already noticed that some days are much harder than others.
They might cope beautifully one morning and completely unravel the next.
Their concentration may deteriorate when they're hungry. Sleep can dramatically affect their behaviour. Certain foods seem to make things worse. They may be constipated, have a limited diet, struggle with allergies, or simply seem to run out of the ability to regulate by the end of the day.
ADHD isn't simply a nutritional deficiency or something that can be "fixed" with the perfect diet.
But the environment in which the ADHD brain is functioning matters.
Nutrition, blood sugar regulation, sleep, movement, nutrient status, gut health and environmental factors can all influence how well a child's brain and body function.
ADHD Naturally teaches you how to work through these foundations systematically — so you can stop guessing and start understanding what may be affecting your child and why.
Natural ADHD Support Without the Overwhelm
Search for "natural ADHD treatments" online and you'll quickly find yourself buried under conflicting advice.
→ Remove gluten
→ Remove dairy
→ Take magnesium
→ Take omega-3
→ Fix the gut
→ Avoid food additives
→ Test for deficiencies
→ Detox
→ Give protein at breakfast
→ Buy another supplement
For a parent who is already managing the demands of raising a child with ADHD, it can become overwhelming quickly.
And the problem with this approach is that not every child with ADHD needs the same intervention.
ADHD Naturally is different.
Rather than giving you an enormous list of things you could do, I teach you how to look at your child's health step by step.
You'll learn which foundations are worth addressing first, what patterns to look for, when something deserves further investigation, and when it probably doesn't.
The goal isn't perfection.
It's to make targeted, achievable changes that make sense for your child and your family.
Created by a Naturopath — and a Mum Who Understands ADHD
I'm Gloria Cicchini, a Perth naturopath with more than 20 years of clinical experience.
I also have two children with ADHD.
So this course hasn't been created from textbooks alone.
It brings together my clinical experience working with children and families, the scientific evidence around ADHD and associated health factors, and the very practical reality of implementing these strategies in a family where ADHD actually lives.
Because knowing what children should eat is one thing.
Getting an ADHD child to eat it at 7:15am on a school morning is another.
I created ADHD Naturally to give parents the education I wish every family had access to: a structured way to understand the foundations that can influence how well an ADHD brain functions.
What You'll Learn in ADHD Naturally
ADHD Naturally takes you through the major nutritional, lifestyle, gut and environmental factors that can interact with ADHD symptoms and overall wellbeing.
Nutrition and the ADHD Brain
You'll learn how everyday nutrition supports the developing brain and why protein, fats, carbohydrates, vitamins and minerals all have important roles.
We'll look at realistic ways to improve nutrient density without expecting children to eat a perfect diet.
You'll also learn why adequate protein matters, where amino acids fit into neurotransmitter biology, and how to build meals that support sustained energy and concentration.
Food Additives, Hyperactivity and Learning
Can artificial colours and preservatives affect ADHD behaviour?
For some children, the answer is yes.
We'll examine what the research tells us about food additives and hyperactivity, which children may be more susceptible, and how to investigate possible food reactions without restricting your child's diet.
You'll learn how to become a careful observer rather than blaming every difficult day on something your child ate.
Protein, Blood Sugar and ADHD
Does your child become irritable, emotional, impulsive or completely dysregulated when they're hungry?
We'll explore the relationship between food, glucose regulation, hunger, energy and behaviour.
You'll learn how to build breakfasts, lunches, snacks and dinners containing protein, fibre, healthy fats and quality carbohydrates — and why these combinations can be useful during demanding school days.
Most importantly, you'll learn practical strategies that work in the real world, including for children who are selective eaters.
Sleep and ADHD
Sleep problems are extremely common in children with ADHD, and inadequate or disrupted sleep can make inattention, impulsivity and emotional dysregulation considerably harder to manage.
That's why sleep has an entire section of the course.
Rather than simply telling you to establish a bedtime routine, we'll become Sleep Detectives.
You'll learn to investigate why your child isn't sleeping well in the first place.
We look at sleep routines and circadian rhythms, morning light, screens, physical activity, the bedroom environment and nutrition — as well as potential contributors such as iron deficiency, restless legs, allergies, nasal obstruction, snoring and sleep-disordered breathing.
You'll also learn when a sleep problem needs further investigation rather than another sleep strategy.
Feed the Sleeping Brain
Nutrition and sleep are closely connected.
You'll learn about the nutritional building blocks involved in normal serotonin, melatonin and GABA pathways, and where nutrients such as iron, vitamin B6, zinc and magnesium fit into normal neurological function.
We'll turn the biochemistry into food.
You'll learn how to create simple evening meals, when a bedtime snack might be useful, which foods contain tryptophan, how caffeine can interfere with sleep, and why not every child needs a special "sleep supplement”.
Hydration and Environmental Health
Sometimes the simplest foundations are the easiest to overlook.
You'll learn why adequate hydration matters for normal cognitive and physical function and practical ways to help ADHD children remember to drink during school days.
We'll then explore environmental health.
You'll learn about water quality, lead, mercury, arsenic, PFAS, household fragrance, mold and other common environmental exposures, along with realistic ways to reduce unnecessary exposure at home.
We'll also discuss water filtration, lower-mercury fish choices, cookware, food storage and simple low-tox household changes.
The philosophy throughout is simple: Reduce unnecessary exposure. Don't try to create a perfect environment.
The Gut-Brain Connection and ADHD
The gut and brain are in constant communication through neurological, immune, endocrine and metabolic pathways.
In ADHD Naturally, we'll explore what scientists currently understand about the gut-brain axis and ADHD, while separating science from the enormous amount of speculation you'll find online.
You'll learn about digestion, constipation, fibre, the gut microbiome and how gut health can influence nutrient absorption and immune function.
You'll also learn when digestive symptoms deserve further investigation.
The aim isn't to convince every parent that ADHD "starts in the gut".
The aim is to recognise when gut health may be another relevant piece of your child's individual picture.
Nutrients That Matter for the ADHD Brain
Parents frequently ask me:
"Which supplements should I give my child for ADHD?"
I think there's a better question:
"Does my child actually need this nutrient?"
Throughout the course, you'll learn about nutrients relevant to normal brain development and function, including:
- Iron
- Zinc
- Magnesium
- Omega-3 fatty acids
- Vitamin D
- B vitamins
- Protein and amino acids
We'll look at food sources first, when supplementation may be appropriate, and why more isn't necessarily better.
You'll also learn why individual assessment matters rather than giving every child with ADHD the same collection of supplements.
Stop Guessing. Start Looking for Patterns.
One of the most important skills you'll develop in ADHD Naturally is learning how to observe your child differently.
Instead of:
"Why is their behaviour terrible today?"
you'll start asking:
"What changed?"
How did they sleep?
Did they eat breakfast?
How long has it been since they ate?
Did they drink at school?
Are they constipated?
Are they getting enough protein?
Is their diet restricted?
Are there symptoms suggesting iron deficiency?
Is there a reproducible reaction to a particular food or additive?
Not every difficult day will have an identifiable physiological explanation.
ADHD is still ADHD.
But learning to recognise patterns can help you distinguish between the child's underlying neurodevelopmental differences and modifiable factors that may be making life harder for their brain.
That is where this course becomes practical.
Who Is ADHD Naturally For?
This course has been created for parents and carers of children with diagnosed ADHD, suspected ADHD or ADHD traits who want to understand the nutritional and lifestyle foundations that can support their child's health.
It's particularly suited to parents who feel overwhelmed by conflicting information online and want an evidence-informed, practical framework rather than another list of supplements.
You don't need any medical or nutritional knowledge.
I'll teach you the science in plain English and then show you how to apply it at home.
And you absolutely do not need to implement everything.
In fact, I don't want you to.
We'll work through one foundation at a time.
Is This Course Anti-Medication?
No.
ADHD Naturally isn't designed to replace medical or psychological care, and it isn't based on the idea that parents should choose between conventional ADHD treatment and supporting their child's nutrition, sleep and physical health.
These approaches can coexist.
A child taking ADHD medication still needs adequate nutrition.
They still need sleep.
They still need movement.
They still need iron, zinc, protein and essential fatty acids.
They still need their constipation treated.
They still deserve investigation if they're snoring every night.
And medication itself can sometimes introduce practical nutritional challenges, such as reduced appetite, that parents need help navigating.
The purpose of ADHD Naturally is to help you build strong physiological foundations around your child's individual ADHD care.
What ADHD Naturally Is Not
This isn't a "cure ADHD naturally" course.
I won't promise that changing your child's diet will make their ADHD disappear.
I won't tell you that one food, supplement, microbiome pattern or environmental toxin caused their ADHD.
And I won't ask you to put your child through an unnecessarily restrictive diet in pursuit of perfect behaviour.
ADHD is a complex neurodevelopmental condition influenced by genetics, development and environment.
My role is to help you understand the modifiable health factors around ADHD — and decide which ones are relevant to your child.
Practical. Evidence-Informed. Designed for Real Families.
I've deliberately designed ADHD Naturally so that you can move through it step by step.
You can watch the lessons in your own time, revisit sections when you need them, and gradually introduce changes rather than trying to overhaul your child's life overnight.
Throughout the course you'll receive practical strategies you can actually use at home.
Because the best health recommendation in the world is useless if your family can't realistically implement it.
And as you'll hear me say repeatedly throughout the course:
Progress over perfection.

Ready to understand your child's ADHD brain from a different perspective?
Nutrition does not "cure" ADHD, but adequate nutrition is essential for normal brain development and function. Individual children may also have nutritional deficiencies, irregular eating patterns, restricted diets or other health issues that can influence energy, concentration, sleep and wellbeing. ADHD Naturally teaches parents how to identify and address these foundations appropriately.
